The Ultimate Trade For The Suns, Clippers, and Thunder

Last year the Thunder and the Clippers shocked the NBA world as Paul George forced a trade to the Clippers. The Thunder were in full rebuild mode as they also traded Westbrook for Chris Paul. Some people thought that CP3 wouldn’t even play for the Thunder, but he’s no baby back bitch. He led the Thunder to an impressive 44-28 record, and finished 5th in the Western Conference. The Thunder are in a weird cross roads they could try to build around CP3, SGA, and Steven Adams and keep driving for the playoffs. Or they could really rebuild and trade CP3 away, and build around SGA who’s going to be a true star in the NBA. With CP3 making a little over 41 million dollars a year for the next two years, and being 35 the opportunity to get some real assets is shrinking. Which team is desperately trying to make the playoffs, and could use a point guard that could mentor their young players? The Phoenix Suns.

The Suns haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, and with players demanding trades earlier than ever in their contracts the Suns need to improve. The Suns were dominate in the bubble as they went 8-0, but it wasn’t enough for them to get over the hump to the playoffs. Of course the Devin Booker trade rumors started firing off, as Suns fans screamed into the voids of the internet as they feared that their first star since Steve Nash would want to leave. Everyone knows that Booker is boys with KAT, and D’Angelo Russell with them both being on the Wolves fans feared that Booker would want to join his BFF’s.

So with all of that being said here’s the trade that would make the most sense for the Suns, Clippers, Thunder, and Mavericks. The Suns get Chris Paul, the Clippers get Ricky Rubio, Mavericks get Kelly Oubre, and the Thunder get Patrick Beverly Landry Shammet, and the 18th pick.

I already went over why the Suns would love to get CP3, but why would the Clippers trade away Beverly, and Shammet to get Ricky Rubio? After the Clippers got bounced from the playoffs it was leaked that Kawhi Leonard told the Clippers ownership that they needed a point guard. The Clippers play an ugly very isolated style of basketball, Beverly and Shammet don’t really move the ball, and as Westbrook would say “Pat Bev trick y’all, man, like he playing defense,” so maybe losing Beverly wouldn’t be that big of a deal. Shammet is a liability on defense, and it doesn’t look like he’s gonna be the next JJ Redick as people thought.

Why would the Mavericks want Oubre? The Mavericks lack depth in the small forward position, and what better small forward than the new heat check king. From night to night Oubre can either be an amazing player, or god awful. I love Oubre’s game, and the fact that whenever he shoots the ball he always thinks that it’s going in. Oubre is great on defense, and could help Luka’s defensive flaws. Mavs fans don’t want to realize that no free agents want to play in Dallas so might as well trade for players to help out their young core.

Regardless of what trades happen the NBA’s offseason will deliver insane stories, and drama as it always does. I just hope and pray the Knicks don’t do anything stupid.
