The Weekend Slate
Not a great midweek slate from me, but we still broke even at 8-8. Call me Jeff Fischer. I am not happy that we broke even, but we still are in the green overall since the start of the blog. I will have to check back one of these days to see what exactly my overall record is. I am currently watching my Patriots lose to the Rams. So I need to take out my anger by picking future winners. There are over 100 basketball and football games to be played this weekend. I am assuming that a good chunk will be postponed or cancelled due to the Rona though. Regardless it is still rivalry week in football, and that gets me buzzing more than horseshoeing a full tin of Grizzly Wintergreen.
Friday Football:
Arizona State (-11.5) @ Arizona
The Duel in the desert. I honestly have no idea about the spread in this game. Both teams are win-less. If anything I am taking ASU Moneyline.
Nevada @ San Jose State (-2)
This is the better of the games on Friday night. Nevada is 6-1, while SJSU is 5-0. I like San Jose to continue their undefeated streak here. What I am really debating is if I want to tease this game. SJSU +4 and Over 53 points sounds real tempting. Both teams are averaging over 30 points per game. Well for the sake of this pick I am sticking with SJSU -2.
Saturday Football:
Illinois @ Northwestern (14)
The battle for the “Land of Lincoln Trophy”. Northwestern had last week off, so they are still coming off that tough upset at Michigan State. Northwestern has to bounce back from that if they still want a shot at a major bowl game. I do think NW will win this game, but 14 points is a lot. Northwestern has only beat a team by more than 10 once. That was the opening game against Maryland, where they won by 30. I want to tease this game again. I am thinking Illinois +20 and over 34 sounds pretty damn good.
Wake Forest @ Louisville (-1.5)
Wake Forest has an extremely powerful offense. They average just about 40 points per game. They should be able to outscore the Cardinals. WF Money line is my pick.
Coastal Carolina (-13.5) @ Troy
This line is definitely going to move come Saturday. Get your pick in soon. After that big win on the Surf Turf, Coastal should mop the floor with these guys. Take it with the spread.
North Carolina @ Miami (-3)
Miami needs to win this game be be in a NY6 bowl. Both teams are coming off 40+ point wins. This game all relies on Miami’s defense being able to stop Sam Howell and this window-maker of an offense. I am taking Miami, just because of the implications of this game. Plus it is being in Hard Rock stadium.
Wisconsin (-1) @ Iowa
Iowa is hot and Wisconsin is struggling. Iowa Money Line.
Oklahoma State (-5) @ Baylor
Gundy will not have another tough beat in Texas back to back weeks. Expect a big game from the Cowboys.
USC (-3) @ UCLA
Kedon Slovis to St. Brown. I should not have to say much more.
Auburn (-6.5) @ Miss State
Bo Nix surprised me last week against A&M. I am taking Auburn. Especially if he can continue to play like that, avoiding tackles like they are DM’s from the crazy ex girlfriend.
Friday Basketball:
St. John’s @ Seton Hall
Iowa State @ Iowa
Saturday Basketball: (All Money lines because spreads are not set as of now.)
Florida @ Florida State
Cincinnati @ Tennessee
Illinois @ Mizzou
FGCU @ Miami
Notre Dame @ Kentucky
Ark Pine-Bluff @ Tulane
Wofford @ South Florida
Memphis @ Auburn
Utah @ BYU
Xavier @ Providence
Henny Lock:
AMERICA’S GAME:
Navy @ Army (-7)
In high school I enlisted in the Navy. Shortly before getting shipped out for basic, my kidneys went to shit and I was producing kidney stones like Philip Rivers having kids. Forcing MEPS and the DOD to disqualify me. I wanted to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps and be a lifer in the Navy. He spent 30 years in the Navy and got to travel the world. So I will forever be a GO NAVY Beat Army guy. Realistically though, Army should win this game pretty significantly. Take Army with the points.
