Everything You Need To Know About What’s Going On In Boulder

On September 24, Boulder County issued a public health order that specifically targeted 18-22 year olds due to the rise of COVID cases in Boulder. The order stated that all gatherings of any size with anyone 18-22 years old is prohibited (members of the same household is not considered a gathering), outdoor exercise with another person is prohibited, riding in the same car with anyone 18-22 years old is prohibited (even if someone is in need of medical care…), and more.

Along with this list of rules, they also did everyone the favor of listing nearly 40 properties on the Hill that must follow the stay-at-home requirements. Students who live in the identified properties are prohibited from: “Leaving their residence except for Essential Activities and Essential Travel, using any mode of public transportation or rideshare (e.g. bus, plane, taxi, train, Uber, Lyft), allowing any non-household member to enter the residence, unless they are an Essential Visitor, moving from their residence unless relocating to an alternate location, congregating in common areas of the residence, participate in outdoor exercise with a group in any form, travel for outdoor exercise by motorized means, and going to work.” Yikes. If you don’t follow the rules, guess what? $1,000 fine, up to 90 days in jail, and suspension from school (maybe even expulsion if you’re just that unlucky).

With this, thanks a lot CU. You did everyone dirty. You have proved that you don’t care about your students. You encouraged students to come back to campus, painted the picture of hybrid classes, made everyone pay full tuition, then put us on house arrest. Your lack of preparedness in bringing students back to campus during a global pandemic is what painted the way for this series of unfortunate events. There was nothing put in place to monitor students’ health in and around campus. Now we have all the Chads and Brads of Greek Life threatening lawsuits. Great work everyone.
